Applications are being accepted through March 19 for six positions on the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District's Citizens Oversight Committee.  The committee's purpose is to ensure that the Park District meets the objectives of its voter-approved $100 million bond measure and uses the funds as planned. Members serve two-year terms and may be reappointed for two additional terms.  The committee, which was formed in 2009 and has held two meetings, is to report on overall progress in meeting objectives and has the opportunity to recommend improvements in efficiency, administration or performance.

Bond measure projects of interest to those north of highway 26 may include:

* Terra Linda Park play equipment: Construction started the first week of February with completion later this spring. Park Planner René Brucker is overseeing this project.

* George Otten Park play equipment: THPRD staff is in the process of selecting a contractor. The project, also under the direction of Brucker, is slated to begin in February and wrap up by the end of March.

* Natural Resource Program activities: Work will pick up this spring according to Bruce Barbarasch, superintendent of Natural Resources, but staff are in the process of identifying potential locations for placement of permanent soft surface trails using the $100,000 of bond funds designated for that purpose.

Those with interest in a committee position may obtain an application at THPRD's Administration Office (15707 SW Walker Road, Beaverton, OR 97006) or online at www.thprd.org. They can also request an application by calling 503/645-6433. Applicants must live within THPRD boundaries.
