If you want a CHOICE you have to ask for it...
What are your concerns and ideas about your governance options?
Annex to Beaverton OR  Create Your Own New City OR  More County Service Districts
Each of these options comes with a price...but what is it?
Ask your elected leaders today - to help you learn the pros and cons of ALL your options,
and CHOOSE the best one that fits your community, family and lifestyle.

                                    Who's choice is it?

                                    Representation

                                    Picture
Although annexing to Beaverton will give us a Mayor, Beaverton elects their council at-large, vs. a district-based electorate system to provide us with neighborhood level elected representation.

We help elect County, Metro and some service district representatives.  But our representation is diluted since their constituencies are much broader than our ~61,000 residents living North of 26.

County, City, Service District and Metro leaders talk daily and make project decisions for our area, while we’re allowed a couple of minutes of testimony.

                                    Annexation

                                    Picture
The County will continue to provide services at present levels dependent on adequate funding or until we agree to annex to a city.

Beaverton and Washington County have an agreement that identifies most of land north of Beaverton/highway 26 as Beaverton’s future service area and available for annexation through due process.

After 2014, it is unknown what Beaverton's strategy is to fulfill it's agreement with Washington County and annex areas North of 26.

Property owners/developers are already annexing our new neighborhoods and commerce areas to Beaverton.  The historic John Quincy Adams Young house in Cedar Mill was annexed to Beaverton in the summer of 2010.

                                    Planning

                                    Picture
Metro looks to Beaverton to provide the vision for our community during urban boundary growth decisions.  July 2010, Beaverton Mayor asked Metro for all our urban reserves, 299 acres, to be a part of Beaverton by December 2010.

Infill is a reality, and proactive visioning and planning for a sustainable, livable community are considered municipal services of which, the County does not provide.

                                    Fiscal/Project Priorities

                                    Picture
Costs of our services are destined to rise. As parts of our community are annexed, fewer folks will pay into our service districts.

We don’t decide the priorities of what or where our revenues are spent. Our impact on the process affecting local concerns is minimal.

Cities push a great deal of the regional agendas and produce a large portion of the data used for decisions.
